文法的にはどちらも正しくてほとんど同じ意味だけど、微妙に以下のような違いがあるとのこと。
・I worry about⇒常に（all the time）心配している状況：
母親が海外に住む娘のことを心配しているとき
→常に（習慣的に）娘の安否を心配している状況なので、
worry→I worry about you.

・I am worried about⇒ある特定の状況（particular situation）を心配している状況：
娘の帰宅がいつもより遅いことを母親が心配しているとき
→特定の状況（今日はいつもより娘の帰宅が遅い）を心配しているので、
I am worried→I am worried about you.
